Wilton sprinters headed to national meet Posted on 03/07/2011

WILTON -- Margo Foley and Brynn Parsons each qualified for the USATF National Indoor Championship in the 55 meters and 200 meters at the Northeast Zone Meet in Toms River, NJ on Sunday.

Parsons placed third fourth in the 55 and third in the 200 with times of 7.6 and 27.3, respectively.

Foley was sixth in the 55M in 7.8 and fifth (5th) in the 200M in 28.2.

In order to qualify for the National Championship Meet in Hillsdale, Illinois on March 12, athletes have to place in the top six in each event.

I am very happy for them said CT Elite Coach Kevin Foley. Neither Brynn nor Margo ran anywhere near their best times for the year, but they did what they had to do to qualify.

When the outcome means qualifying for a national meet, it is good enough for right now.

In addition to qualifying for the USTAF national meet, Parsons, along with teammate Kafesha Thomas, will also be running in the 60M at the New Balance National meet at the Armory in New York City on Friday, March 11.

Each athlete qualified for that meet by meeting the qualifying standards during the indoor season.

Thomas qualified with a time of 7.2 and Parsons in 7.3 in the 55M at the Colgate Womens Games in January.
