What is the best thing to eat the night before a race?


You might think that you should carb-load, but for short races (those under a 5k, maybe even 10k), this is not that necessary. A modest and normal-sized dinner meal should be all you need. Have the meal contain mostly carbohydrate-rich foods such as whole grains or potato, and add a small portion of cooked vegetables, and some protein. This general portion recommendation is too help with optimal digestion. Also, reduce or eliminate added fats such as creams and dressings, and avoid greasy or spicy foods that might upset your digestive system. Lastly, I advise you to not eat too large of a meal as this might lead you to experience poor sleep and digestive issues either in the morning or during your race.
