HILLSBORO – The Tualatin High School track and field teams got their league seasons of to impressive starts.
The Timberwolves squads scored a sweep of Hillsboro in a Pacific Conference-opening dual meet held April 6 at Hare Field.
The Tualatin boys notched a 95-50 win over the Spartans to get off to a 1-0 start in league competition.
Senior Taylor Altringer had a big day for the Wolves as he was part of four victories. Altringer sprinted to victory in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.60 seconds and he triumphed in the 400 in 51.60.
In the 4 x 100 relay, Altringer teamed with senior Bao Phuong, senior Matthew Taylor and freshman Nick Hines to win in 45.44. In the 4 x 400 relay, the Tualatin team of junior Nathan Gardner, junior Brady Brajavich, Taylor and Altringer won in 3:43.62.
Tualatin senior Jason Cross also ran to a pair of individual wins. He triumphed in the 1,500 in 4:46.85 and he triumphed in the 3,000 in 9:48.03.
Senior Zach McMahon and Brajavich also triumphed twice for the Wolves. McMahon ran to victory in the 110 high hurdles in 15.64 and he cleared 11 feet to win the pole vault. Brajavich won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 42.41 and he had a winning distance of 19-10 in the long jump.
