Several members of the St. Helens Middle School track and field team had standout performances at the 2011 Portland Track Festival. PORTLAND — The St. Helens Middle School Trojans track and field team won both the boys and girls 4x400-meter relays during the Portland Track Festival on May 28.

The boys team - including Casey Cooke, Ivan Alcazar, Justin Pense and Nolan Adams - clocked a time of 4:14.

Jamie Gustafson, Sydney Nett, Jamie Bradford and Isabella Williams finished in 4:57 for the girls.

Tyson Broadbent, a seventh grader, won the shot put and finished second in the discus to lead the boys individually.

Adams finished fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-6. He also finished eighth in the long jump.

Alcazar was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 14-5.

Pense was fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.7 seconds.

Ashley Geisbers had the top two finishes for the girls. She was second in the 400 and also second in the 200-meter hurdles.

Nett finished second in the 200 with a time of 28.1 seconds and was third in the shot put.

Williams, Amy Sumsion and Clair Hart all added individual sixth-place finishes.

Williams' came in the long jump, Sumsion's in the 1,500 and Hart's in the discus.

The Trojans competing at the Portland Track Festival were those who finished the highest for the team during its district meet
