It's been three years since we first featured Octavia as a young thrower. So far this season Octavia and her brother have added to their collection of medals including wins at the AAU Region 17 National Qualifier.

Octavia Gee and DaMario Gee added more gold medals to the family collection the last few weeks at USATF and AAU track and field meets. Both qualified for national championships in throwing events this month, representing the Beastmode and Sonics Youth track clubs.
Octavia Gee won two gold medals at the USATF Region 12 meet, July 5-9 in Odessa, qualifying for the USATF Junior Olympics, July 25-31 at California State University, Sacramento.
Competing in the 9-10 age division representing Beastmode, Octavia threw the javelin 92 feet, 9 ¾ inches and the shot put 31 feet, 8 ¼ inches to win both. She also broke USATF Gulf shot put record with a throw of 32-4 ¾ and the javelin record with a 91-3.
DaMario, also throwing for Beastmode, hurled the javelin 125-2 to win the gold medal in the 11-12 age division at the Gulf Championships. He earned a bronze medal with a heave of 119 feet at the Region 12 meet, advancing to the USATF Junior Olympics.
Both earned gold medals at the AAU Region 17 National Qualifier, June 29-July 2 at Traylor Stadium in Rosenberg, qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympics, scheduled for Aug. 1-6 at Turner Stadium in Humble.
Octavia broke the age 10 triathlon record with 1,128 total points, placing first in the shot put, second in the 200-meter dash and tied for third in the high jump. In single events, she threw the shot put 33-4 to win by 11 feet, also winning the javelin with a 79-2. She was the anchor leg on the Sonics’ 400-meter relay team, which won the silver medal and qualified for nationals with a time of 57.30 seconds.
DaMario was the age 11 champion in the javelin, throwing 103-3 to win by 13 feet. He also ran on the Sonics’ 400- and 1,600-meter relays in the age 12 division.
