Corsicana - Thirty kids young and old from Corsicana are headed to South Texas for one of their biggest track and field events of the summer.
They will represent their hometown well.
Team Supreme Youth Track Club will compete in the TAAF State Games of Texas on Thursday through Sunday in Corpus Christi.
The triple jump and pole vault start Thursday. Running events for 12-and-under and field events for 13-and-over are Friday, and it switches around for Saturday. Events finals are Sunday.
“It allows all of the children to work on their craft,” Supreme coach Terry Douglas said. “It gives them a chance to develop to compete in UIL high school track.”
Several Tiger high school girls who made it to the UIL State Track and Field Meet are on Team Supreme and will compete in Corpus, including Makenzie Lee, Michelle Turner, Megan Moultrie and Robin Henley.
A few of the boys to watch for are ninth grader LaMontre Owens and eighth grader Kishawn Kelley.
Corsicana will be represented by kids as young as 7-years old at the state meet.
“This summer program really gets you started on strengthening your program,” Douglas said.
