TWINSBURG, Ohio - Twinsburg resident Shaun Crawford, 12, broke three national track records in winning three gold medals at the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Norfolk, Va., July 31-Aug. 7.

Crawford, who will be an eighth grader this fall, competed in the sub-youth division.

He won the 100 meters in 11.22 seconds. He ran the 200 in 22.54, running into a 3.4-mph head wind. He set the final record in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 22 feet, 1 inch. The previous record was 20-6.

Crawford also anchored the 4x100 relay team that finished fifth.

In 2008, Crawford was the AAU national champion in the 200 and 400, giving him five national championships overall.

Crawford runs for the West Akron Track Club and is coached by Regina King-Williams, Michael Young and Denise Brandon.
