The Aliso Viejo-based South Orange County Wildcats Track Club placed four runners in the top seven in the Youth Boys Division of the 1500-meter race, April 23, at the San Diego Roadrunners Invitational at Orange Glenn High in Escondido.

Last year, the Aliso Viejo Middle School seventh grader won the Jr. Olympic National Championship in the 3000-meter race, and the 3K in the Jr. Olympic National Cross Country Championships.

Other top finishers include:

  • Aliso Viejo eighth grader Kyle Jacobs places seventh in the 1500 in 4:46;
  • Ladera Ranch's Sammy Harned qualified for the 2011 Youth National Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C., by placing third in the 1500. His time of 4:32 ranks him fifth in the nation.
  • Ladera Ranch seventh grader David White placed third in the 1500 (4:43); and
  • Mission Viejo's Grace Schafer placed fifth in the Youth Girls 1500-meter race in 5:04.
