ROADRUNNERS HAVE BIG WEEKEND AT MT SAC RELAYS AND CARLSBAD
The Southern California Roadrunners had a big weekend with outstanding results at the Mt Sac Relays Youth days , Junior Carlsbad and Carlsbad 5000.
Records were broken at the Mt Sac Middle school competition on Friday as many distance records fell. Claire Graves (Highland/ Beattie) set the new girls 1200 meter record with 4:00 besting the previous record set in 2003 (4:03). Eric Gonzalez (Riverside Mission) then set the 7th grade boys record in the same event with 3:37 which was previously held by Trevor Capestany (Beattie). Austin Tamagno (Brea) running one of the earlier 8th grade 1500 meter heats broke the previous record with a 4:22 effort. Phillip Rocha (San Gabriel Valley) the reset the record running 4:14 for the new 8th grade record and PR. Andrew Wilson (Redlands/ Moore) won his 8th grade heat followed in 3rd by Roadrunner teammate Jonathan Jimenez (Highland/ Beattie) in third. Zafir Abou Zamzam finished 5th in the same heat.
In the Junior Carlsbad race on Sat . March 31st many medals were won by the team. Kessy Uribes (Redlands/ Moore) placed 3rd female in the 12 yo race with a PR of 6:06. Noah Tamagno (Brea) placed 2nd overall in the 10 yo race with 5:38 and Mikey Leong 44th with 7:12. Jack Keough Lansford took 1st in the 9 yo race with a PR of 5:28. Alex Miller (Loma Linda) placed 11th overall with a time of 6:19. Emma Miller placed 11th female with a PR of 7:56.
The Carlsbad 5000 was very fast in the 29 -under race as well as the elites in the Elite race with many Olympians competing. Austin Tamagno was the teams top runner placing 21st overall with a PR of 16:09 for a PR and 2nd in the tough age group (16:09). Xolan Brown (Loma Linda/ Cope) placed 43rd with a PR of 17:13 for a PR. Jack Keough Lansford (Claremont age 9) ran a strong race to PR with 18:12. Claire Graves placed 2nd in the 13-17 age group with 19:10. Noah Tamagno ran 30:18 for a PR. Samanta Aguilar placed 3rd with a PR of 20:21. Kessy Uribes (Reldands) ran a PR of 21:43 Jasmine Alexander placed third overall for 20:21.
