The Southern California Roadrunners competed in Carlsbad this past weekend and came home with many PRs running their fastest times with several age group wins. Emma Miller (Loma Linda age 8) won the Junior Carlsbad 1 mile race for 8 year olds with a time of 6:30 for a PR and defeating all the boys and girls in her race. Jalina Lindstrom (Apple Valley) placed 2nd female in the 11 year old mile race with a time of 6:25 and Caitlin Miller placed 6th with a PR of 6:53. Jasmine Alexander (Rialto) placed 6th girl with 6:12 time in the 12 year old race with teammate teammateLindsay Calderon (Apple Valley) 7th with 6:18. Alex Miller placed 2nd in the 9 year old 1 mile race with a PR of 6:10.
The following day the team competed in the Carlsbad 5000 considered the worlds fastest 5 k course considering the best runners in the country come to this race. The team competed in the 29-under 5k race.Claire Graves (Highland age 14) won the 13-17 age group with a PR of 18:02 finishin 19 seconds ahead of 2012 Junior Olympic Cross Country champion Rylee Bowen from Santa Rosa. Claire splits for the mile and 2 mile were 5:10 , 11:00. Close behind with a big PR was 14 year old Samantha Aguilar (Yucaipa) with 18:29. Carissa Myung (Rancho Cucamonga age 12) placed 2nd in the 12-under age group with a PR of 20:42. Jasmine Alexander (age 12) placed 4th in the age group with a PR of 20:57. Morgan Taylor (Redlands) placed 8th in the age group with a PR of 21:40 and Emeline Myung (Rancho Cucamonga age 9) ran a PR of 22:42. Connor Taylor (Redlands age 11) placed 3rd in the 12 -under boys age group with 19:26 PR and Alex Miller was 8th in 20:35 with another PR.
The Roadrunners met Olympic team runners Desiree Davila (Marathon), Shannon Rowbury (1500) and took pictures with Olympic Silver Medalist Leo Manzano after the race.
