At the RLS Middle School Run for Funds Turkey Trot on Nov. 5, kids ran in groups associated with their grades. The course wound through St. Helena, all the way out to the Primary School and back again.
Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School held its Run for Funds "Turkey Trot" last Wednesday and raised $33,000.
The running course meandered through the residential streets of St. Helena from the middle school to the Primary School and back again.
Two hundred and seventy runners participated on a beautiful autumn day. There were 85-sixth graders, 86 seventh-graders, 87 eighth-graders and 12 adults who ran the course. The run was put on by the RLS parent group and was sponsored by 26 local organizations.
According to Diana Schweiger Isdahl, the runners took individual pledges from members of the community toward the goal of raising $33,000. Schweiger Isdahl said that 22 sponsors in three categories of donations enabled the project to reach its goal. The sponsors were designated into three categories: Gold, Silver and Bronze.
