Last Thursday night, the Rowan County Middle School Track and Field team traveled to Scott County High School to compete against several Central Kentucky teams.

The boy’s placed seventh and the girl’s second place in the eight-team field. The girls lost by 7 points to Scott County Middle but outscored Georgetown Middle School, Royal Springs Middle School, Conkwright Middle School, Clark County Middle School, McNabb Middle School and Nicholas County Middle School. Individuals medaling in events were Rosemary Ibekwe, first place in the 100 hurdles, Courtney Peters, first place in the High Jump. Janae Graham placed 2nd in the 1600M and 800M, Autumn Meade 3rd discus throw, Kennedy Scott 3rd in the long jump, The Girls 4X800 (Scott, Kelsey Cyrus, Sarah Hollock, Graham) placed 2nd overall, and the girls 4X100 (Peters, A Meade, Ibekwe, Autumn Eldridge) placed 3rd. Nick Anderson placed 2nd in the 1600M.

Coaches Adams and Cyrus were happy with the team’s effort, consistent improvement, and willingness to run and compete in additional events for the sake of the team.

“The wind and cold temperature after the sunset were tough elements for all the teams to endure,” said Cyrus. “We are pleased with team work and performances. We have room for improvement and fine tuning before the regional meet in 2 weeks but the students are working and enthusiastic.
