CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Tommy Roush of Petoskey is on his way to the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics.

Roush, 14, will compete in the National Games after winning two events and placing second in another over the weekend at the Region 5 meet at Cedarville University.

Roush won the Intermediate Division in the shot put and hammer throw, and placed second in the discus. His winning toss in the shot put was 46 feet, 7 inches; he won the hammer throw at 131-0; and his runner-up finish in the discus came with a toss of 145-1.

The Intermediate Division comprises athletes who are entering their freshman or sophomore year in high school. Roush, 14, is a freshman-to-be at Petoskey High School. Region 5 comprises athletes from Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the Junior Olympics which are scheduled to begin in July 23 at Morgan State University in Baltimore.,0,2214557.story
