EUGENE: The 30th annual Hershey's Track & Field Games held its Oregon finals last Saturday at Marist High School. Douglas County was well represented with a large contingent of athletes. In order to qualify for the finals, participants had to win their event at one of the area local meets.

Athletes competed in one of three boys and girls age divisions: 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14.

Four area youth and one team came away with first place honors. Mason Seely of Roseburg won the girls 9-10 softball throw with a toss of 100-11. Kenny Freeman of Roseburg won the boys 11-12 800 meters with a time of 2:44.01.

In the boys 13-14 800, Reed Van Anrooy of Roseburg won with a time of 2:21.00. Brooke Spencer of Oakland won the girls 11-12 softball throw with a toss of 154- 3. In the 4x100 relay, a Roseburg 9-10 girls team consisting of Jessie Farrington, Rachel Harland, Seely and Kylie Chong won with a time of 1:08.45.

Locals finishing second were Fiona Johnson in the 11-12 girls 800, Miata Winders in the 9-10 girls 50, Hannah Russo in the 13-14 girls 100, Kelly Audiss in the 13-14 girls 200, Lindsey Wright in the 13-14 girls standing long jump and Olivia Gulliford in the 9-10 girls 400.

Others area youth finishing in the third in their respective events included Richard Andreas, Gulliford, Theran Hunt, Julia Mooney, Owen Cuilty, Jacob Haverly, Charles Chavtur, Danielle Pedersen and two additional relay teams.
