Kayla Hugg (Ashburn), Sydney Jenkins (Ashburn), Maya Whitfield (Sterling), and Leah Polk (South Riding) from Loudoun-based track team NOVA A.C, amassed a total of 45 points to win the Bantam (9-10 year old) Girls Division at the 2011 USA Youth Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C., June 30-July 3. They beat Greater Norristown PAL Track Club by the narrow margin of 2 points, after facing tough competition from the Pennsylvanian team throughout the meet.

In the Midget (11-12 Years) Boys competition, Travis Hugg (Ashburn) and Spencer Jenkins (Ashburn) combined to earn 21 points for an excellent 8th position. Forty one clubs scored at least one point in the Midget division.

In addition to winning the team title, Kayla Hugg and Sydney Jenkins were also individual Champions, with Hugg winning the 100M in a personal and club record of 13.92 and Jenkins winning the 400M in a personal and club record of 1:06.65.

With Leah Polk as the lead off, and Maya Whitfield running the anchor leg, the four girls combined to break their own club record in the 4x100M Relay, recording a time of 57.05 for 2nd place overall. In the 200M's, Hugg finished 2nd in 28.44 and Jenkins 3rd in 28.67.

Both girls set new personal records in the heats, with Hugg running 27.67 and Jenkins 28.63, bettering the existing record of 29.04, which they set jointly the previous week at the Hershey's Track & Field Games Virginia State Final. Maya Whitfield finished in 6th place in the 100M with 14.91, having recorded 14.77 in the qualifying round.

Spencer Jenkins and Travis Hugg were also in record breaking form this weekend. Jenkins was 3rd and Hugg 4th in the 200M recording 26.64 and 26.74 in the final, having run personal records of 26.59 and 26.61.They previously shared the club record of 27.34.

Hugg also broke through the 60 second barrier, with a new personal and club record of 59.6 to finish 4th in the 400M. Jenkins also took 4th in the 100M in 13.54, with 13.36 in his qualifying heat.
