Long Beach's Equalizers Club cross country team just nabbed a big honor in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Competing in the USATF XC Junior Olympics, the Boys' Intermediate team, featuring five Poly runners, all sophomores, won a national championship! It was a 5K race with 188 runners; the five Long Beach runners' times were:

Jovani Gamboa (Poly 10th grader) 12th 16.01

Christian Vazquez (Poly 10th grader) 15th 16.06

Eris De La Torre (Poly 10th grader) 18th 16.09

Christian Kerr (Poly 10th grader) 137th 18.11

In addition, the Midget Girls Division (3k, with 251 runners) saw the Long Beach club take second, just three points shy of the national title. Their times were:
