Hi everyone, it’s Jordynn!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks with STEM camp, training, recovery and a trip to North Carolina to compete at New Balance Outdoor Nationals!

Day 1:

On Monday I did a light workout, which was 4x 300m runs and some 90m accelerations. While they were 300s, I wanted to be a 35 seconds at the 200m mark. I could not hit the mark and was 2 seconds off each time. I didn’t feel strong in this day.

Tuesday:

I was set to do a light workout but my dad had me take off because I was starting to get sick with a cold. So I ended up making a trip to the chiropractor and a cryo therapy session.

Wednesday:

We made an early flight to North Carolina to compete at New Balance Nationals. Once we arrived, we headed to North Carolina A&T University track to do my warmups just to get my body back going again. My body felt good during my warm up but cold continued to bother me. So after warm ups we had to make a trip for more medicine.

Thursday:

On Thursday I ran the 2 mile run at around 3:45pm. While my cold was bothering my body felt good and felt I could still perform well. I felt good through the first mile but fell back after that. I couldn’t maintain a consistent pace and just didn’t feel strong. I thought I would’ve ran at least 30 seconds faster which would’ve matched my normal time and pace. I didn’t feel good at all.

Friday:

I woke up feeling better than the day before and anxious to run again. With the run set for the early evening, I made sure I took my medicine, drank tea and continued to rest. I was set to run the mile race around 5:45pm but didn’t end up running until about 7:30pm.

I went out fast, stayed consistent and competed hard. And finished the race with a new personal best time of 5:20, improving by about 10 seconds.

Before the race I felt more energized than usual, I wasn’t as nervous and I was able to talk to my good friend, Leilani Gibson. It was great catching up with her.

Now I know what I need to work on and I’m strong enough to do it!

With Youth Runner, Leilani Gibson after our mile race.

Leilani and I with sisters Jolena and Gionna Quarzo. Jolena ran the mile and competed awesome. And Gionna ran in the Championship 5k race and finished with the 7th best time in the nation!

I met Jayla Jones who always does very well at New Balance. She’s also a state champion in Michigan. She’s always so motivating and nice!

With Alexa Rossum who runs for ATL Zoom and headed to Stanford University and will be part of their track team.

Have a great week!
