Illinois should be on the lookout for the Illinois Elite Youth Track Club...this superstar group has a membership of elite youth athletes spaning from the Southern to most Northern part of the state. The group was recently featured on FOX News Chicago in the Morning during their sports news report. The team just completed a phenomenal indoor season with an accomplishment of over 29 USATF Midwest Indoor Championship medals and 3 records (Aaliyah Brown - Youth Girl 55 meter dash – 7.36 sec, Alexis Hyshaw - Midget Girls 55 meter dash – 7.55 sec, and Patrice Jones - Midget Girl Long Jump 4.45m (14-07. 25)) to their credit. The USATF Midwest Championship was held on February 9, 2008 at Proviso West High School.
Despite some very serious challenges, Coach Brown and his team continued their pursuit for the gold and went on to compete in the AAU Indoor Nationals, in Merriville, IN on February 15 thru 17, 2008. There the team secured over 31 Indoor National Medals and 6 Indoor National Records (Aaliyah Brown – Sub Youth Girls 55 Meter Dash – 7.36 sec - 200 meter dash 26.34 sec , Alexis Hyshaw - Midget Girls 55 Meter Dash – 7.39 sec, Torey Nalls - Sub-Bantam Boys 400 meter dash – 1:09.33, and Aaliyah Brown 2005- Bantam Girls 55 meter dash and 200 meter dash).

In addition to their multiple state, and regional titles the team’s Aaliyah Brown, team captain, also holds the 2007 AAU Junior Olympic National record in the Midget Girls 200 meter dash with a time 24.63 seconds , and the team’s Midget Girls 4x100 meter relay took home the Gold with a time of 50.31. The AAU Junior Olympics was held in Knoxville, TN at the University of Tennessee. The team hopes to take home the title in the Midget and Youth Girls 4x400 Relays at this year’s JO Games to be held in Ypsilanti, MI July 27 thru August 2, 2008. The team also won the 2006 USATF Youth National Third Place team award with the help of just two bantam girls Alexis Hyshaw and Patrice Jones.
The Illinois Elite track club has been on the move since 2006 under the leadership and direction of Head Coach and President, Angelo Brown (Matteson Fire Fighter). This dynamic team is small in number but mighty in performance with an average membership of 15 during the indoor season and 27 during the outdoor. The team is a registered member of both AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and USATF (USA Track and Field) and competes during indoor and outdoor seasons.
