The Huskie Track Club had 16 members qualify for the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships with their performances over the weekend at Region VII Junior Olympic Championships at Plainfield Central High School.
Dylan Kvapil won the 1,500-meter run (5:34.95) and high jump (3 feet, 11 1/4 inches) in the Bantam Boys Division, and placed second in the 800 (2:50.72). Nathan Dyer won the discus (136-1) in the Intermediate Boys division and took second in the javelin (126-7) and fourth in the shot put (39-9 1/4).
Lilia Edwards won the Youth Girls triple jump (32-3 3/4), was second in the 100 hurdles (16.38) and third in the long jump (16-2 1/4). Brenna Dupre was second in the Midget Girls 80-meter hurdles (15.74) and third in the long jump (12-3).
Other national qualifiers included: Colton Kammes, Gabriel Irwin, John Sullivan, Llorens Jarrett, Matthew Browder, Taylor Meier, Kierah Meier, Haley Pinkston, Stephanie Milroy, Alex Taylor, Keaton Shott and Mekhi Brown.
