The El Dorado Middle School Cats hosted the Pioneer League Cross Country Meet at Wartick Farms on Tuesday.

The conditions were great for running with the temperature in the 70s with little wind. The ground was hard from the rain that has taken place this past week, which made for firmer stepping for the runners.

“What a difference a week makes, the temperature was 10-15 degrees cooler, hardly any wind, and the excitement of the runners was bursting,” said head coach Les Limon.

The 8th grade boys team of Jacob Harding, Shay Brown, Trey Duran, William Crowley and Joey Jones finished 2nd in the league for the Cats.

Jacob Harding, along with Timothy Kemboi and Jolie Howland, were the only EMS runners to be in the top 10 runners and win a medal.

The 7th grade girls’ race was won by Jolie Howland with a dominating race which ended Howland 20 seconds ahead of the 2nd place runner.

“Howland has been getting better every week and should be a good runner next year,” said Limon. “The 8th graders will be a good addition to the high school team should they choose to go out next year for the Wildcats.”
