Greensville area to be represented at Junior Olympics

 

Isaiah Stephens, an 8th year student from Greensville County High School, qualified for the 2012 Junior Olympics on Saturday July 7th, at Christopher Newport University.

The Emporia native competing in the sub-Bantam boys age group qualified by first wining the Virginia Association Meet on June 16th, he threw 5.87m to win the competition at the state meet, then improve his throw to 6.16m on July 7nd to finish 2nd overall in the region.

 

Region 3 is one of the toughest regions, according to Lazers Track Coach, Coach Young.

Region 3 includes Georgia, South and North Carolina. Isaiah earn the opportunity to compete at the Junior Olympics, which will be held at Morgan State University from July 23 thru 29,

He will throw the shot at 8:00 am on July 29, 2012.

Morgan Crewe the senior from Greensville County high School won the Young Women division High Jump with a jump of 5feet 5 inches, Morgan set a personal record at the Virginia Association Meet on June 16th, with a leap of 5feet 8inches.

Morgan can proudly say she is the region 3 USATF high jump champion for the young women, she will compete on Saturday July 28th, 2012.

The Lazers Track Club will be looking for assistance from the community as these Emporia Students represent Greensville County in the 2012 USATF Junior Olympics to be held at Morgan State University.
