WICHITA, Kan. — Lauren Gregory of the Fort Collins Track Club finished second in the midget girls division of the 3,000-meter run, the best showing by a FCTC athlete during the final two days of the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic National Championships.

Gregory had a time of 10 minutes, 38.41 seconds. She finished 38 hundredths of a second behind winner Julia Bounds of Oak Hill Racing.

Other FCTC athletes who competed Saturday or Sunday were Nick Schneeberger, who was 29th in the young men’s javelin throw with a best toss of 138 feet, 3 inches; Caleb Seeton, who was 31st in the 110-meter hurdles for intermediate boys with a time of 15.99; Jacob Haas, who advanced to the semifinals in the 110 hurdles for young men and finished 16th in 15.05; Charles Rappe, who was 29th (15.11) and Jesse Haas, who fell and wound up 50th (30.87) in the same event as Jacob Haas; Audra Koopman, who was 10th in the midget girls long jump with a leap of 15-1½; and Carly Lester, who placed 22nd in the intermediate girls 100 hurdles in 15.75
