Jaran Roste of Alexandria claimed the Junior Olympic Regional championship in the triple jump competing at the Region 8 competition in Oshkosh, Wisconsin July 5-8, advancing him to the Junior Olympic National track and field meet at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland July 23-29.

The top five finishers in each event advance to Nationals.

Roste, competing in the youth boys division, had a jump of 38’0.5” to win the event, then finished second in the high jump with a leap of 5’1” and was third in the long jump with a distance of 18’0.5”.

He will be joined at Nationals by JeAnna Miller, Bethany Miller, Aleah Miller and Jaelyn Miller, all of Alexandria.

JeAnna Miller, competing in the youth girls division, was second in the high jump with a height of 5’1”, fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 30’2” and seventh in the long jump with a leap of 14’4”.

Bethany Miller was eighth in the high jump for the midget girls division with a height of 3’9”, and Aleah Miller, competing in the sub-bantam girls division, was second in the 800-meter run in 3:07.

Jaelyn Miller, sub-bantam girls, was third in the 1,500-meter run in 7:21 and eighth in the 800-meter run in 3:40.
