This Wednesday, my track team had our duel meet against Lakeridge High School. Our entire team was talking about "getting uncomfortable" (this seasons motto) and really pushing it. Everyone showed up extremely pumped and ready to win. There wasn't a single person who ran who didn't compete as hard as they could. We all wanted to win. Sadly, our team didn't. But we won something else. We won the satisfaction of pushing ourselves and each other for the gold. Everyone did phenomenal. Everyone had huge PRs. We all tried very hard and "got uncomfortable". Even though the community will only see that Lakeridge won, our team will always be a family and we will always know we all tried as hard as we could. The satisfaction of knowing you won inside is better then knowing that you won an event. I ran the 1500 and 3000. I was very pumped for the 1500 and I ran a 5:39. This is not my fastest 1500, but it is my season best. It was a great experience. My team dominated the race and we had a special Laker Lady cheer and huddle. The 3000 was tougher because it's the 3000. I did run my fastest 3000 time ever, which was very exciting. Just remember that winning isn't everything. Have fun and push yourself. Even though my team didn't win the meet, we won something bigger on Wednesday. We won the feeling of leaving it all out on the track and representing Lake Oswego High School as fierce and respectful athletes.
