David McNeal / Carroll County News [Order this photo] ELKINS -- The Elkins Elks cross country meet, the first of the year last Saturday, has grown each year and may have busted all records as 940 runners finished races in three divisions.
Races were split into 1A-3A, 4A-5A, and 6A-7A divisions in boys and girls, junior and senior high with Carroll County teams showing their strength.
In senior boys (228 runners), Green Forest finished first in the 1A-3A division, with Kenny Rangel 2nd and Martin Maravillas 4th. Eureka Springs was third with David Reed 7th and Jacob Worley 8th.
In senior girls (101 runners), Berryville was first in 4A-5A, with Katie Swofford and Yuliana Castillo finishing 1-2, and Makayla Smith 5th.
In junior boys (333 runners), Eureka Springs was first in 1A-3A, with Ryan Sanchez 2nd and Jake McClung 4th. Berryville was 5th in 4A-5A.
In junior girls (278 runners), Eureka Springs was second, with Eden Randolph 2nd and Jasmin Urioste 5th. Berryville was 4th in 4A-5A.
