Eagle High School senior, and Boise State Bronco-to-be Allison Jeffries was named the 2013 Idaho Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

Jeffries, whose 36 individual points were instrumental in helping the Mustangs win the girls state 5A championship, is the third Eagle track and field athlete to be named Gatorade state athlete of the year.

At the 5A state championship meet May 17-18, Jeffries won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.12 seconds and the pole vault with a clearance of 12 feet.

Jeffries’s pole vault of 13 feet at the Class 5A District III Championship meet is a state record and is ranked as the nation’s No. 14 mark by a prep competitor at the time of her selection.

The 5-foot-8 senior also ran the opening leg for the 4x100-meter relay quartet which broke the tape in 48.14 to take the state championship.

“Allison Jeffries had an amazing year,” Timberline Head ctrack and field coach Rob Hindberg said in a press release provided by Gatorade.

“She always has a smile on her face until the gun goes off, then she becomes as fierce a competitor the state of Idaho has seen.”

Jeffries has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in track and field on an athletic scholarship at Boise State University this fall.
