Emporia Track Club members Jacob Davies, Asher Delmott and Brandon Childs earned Regional titles over the weekend at the Region 9 USATF Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in Edwardsville, Ill.

The three also added their names to the list of qualifiers for the National Junior Olympics in Walnut, Calif.

Davies took first in the 800-meter run, Delmott took championships in both the 5,000- and 2,000-meter steeplechases and Childs won the high jump.

Davies dominated the 800, leading the entire way and posting a time of 1:56.07 that was nearly five seconds better than his closest competitor.

Childs also had an easy go of it, winning the competition at 6-foot-6 before raising the bar to 6-10. Though he never cleared the mark, he came close on his second attempt.

Meanwhile, Delmott pulled off a difficult double, winning both steeplechase events despite having to run them in the same day and also in 90-plus degree weather.

Callie Clark earned top-eight honors in three different events, taking fourth in the 400, fifth in the long jump and eighth in the 200.

She qualified with the third-best time in the 800 and nearly hung onto the position in the finals before being overtaken in the final 25 meters.

Kale Hamm and Andrew Wayman also competed for Emporia. Hamm took fourth in the high jump (6-0), and Wayman was fifth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase (7:08.94).

Leslie Stanbrough (heptathlon) will be the other Emporia athlete joining Davies, Delmott and Childs at the National Junior Olympics. She qualified by placing second in her multi-event last week.
