The Massachusetts Middle School State Cross Country Championships were held over the weekend at Willard Field in Devens and a pair of Cape Ann residents were the top finishers in the seventh grade girls race.
Manchester Essex’s Mia Cromwell was the seventh grade winner posting a time of 10:52 with O’Maley Middle School’s Julia Moceri right behind her in second with a time of 10:58.
Both Cromwell and Moceri appear to be names to look out for on the high school cross country scene in the near future. Cromwell recently finished third place at the Jim Munn Invitational at Stage Fort Park, a race that featured over 1,000 runners. Moceri, on the other hand, tied the course record at Stage Fork Park in winning the Northeastern Conference Middle School Championship.
