The Chinese Athletic Association's relay team trained for a week at IMG Academy to prepare for the Spring Invitational before they return to China for the second stop of the IAAF Diamond League Series
EDITOR'S NOTE: We've have some stories this spring on the IMG Academy for Track & Field and noticed that the Chinese Relay Team trained out there for a week...we thought you'd like to read about it.

The Chinese Athletic Association quartet finished runner up to the fleet footed team from Great Britain in the 4x100m Relay in the first event of the Pure Athletics Sprint Invitational at the Nation Training Center in Clermont, Fla., May 10.

Opting not to run their A-team, and without the man who equalled the Asian record of 10.00 in Moscow at the IAAF World Championships in 2013, Zhang Peimeng, who has trained at IMG Academy with Loren Seagrave, Director of Track and Field and Cross Country over the past three years, and teammate, Su Bingtian, who also eclipsed the 10.10 second barrier last year. They were called home to run on the second stop of the IAAF Diamond League Series, which will be contested in Shanghai on Saturday, May 18th, in the 100m against a star-studded international field.

Instead, the coaches of the Chinese team elected to run Chen Shiwei, Zhenye Xie, Yang Yang and Youxue Mo, two of which are alternates for the team slated to compete in the IAAF World Relay Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, May 24 - 25.

The Chief Coach of the team, Zou Zhenxian, remarked that the training at IMG Academy the week before the event had been perfect for their preparation as a team for the World Championships. Zhenxian added that for his team to run a time of 39.98 without their two best sprinters game them a great deal of confidence for their upcoming events.
