OSWEGO - The Oswego High School boys cross country teams hosted state-ranked Fayetteville-Manlius on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in a dual Central New York Counties League meet.

F-M defeated the Oswego varsity team, 18-39. The Bucs are 2-3 overall and 1-2 in CNYCL.

For Oswego, Brandon Auyer, Shane Demo, Chris Wallace, and Pat Shafer led the way as they finished in the top 10.

Auyer was fourth (12:52), Demo was sixth (13:19), Wallace was eighth (13:23), and Shafer was ninth (13:42) over the 2.48-mile course at Oswego Middle School.

“We didn’t win, but we did accomplish a moral victory. Last year we only had two runners in the top 10,” said Coach Dan Greene.

Mitch Galvin sprinted past three F-M runners in the last 100 meters to place 12th (14:04). Dan Ellingwood was 16th (14:17) and Colin Morgan was 17th (14:19).

“Six of our top seven runners improved their course times,” Greene said.

Zach McQuaid, Steve Abramski, Ken Krapf, and Tres Bell also improved their times on the course.

“We are just about at the midway point of the season. Now it is time to make a push for the remainder of the season,” Greene said.

The OHS boys and girls will have a week to prepare for their next race against West Genesee.
