MONROE – Junior Jenna Sica won an invitational for the first time in her three-year cross country career, leading Brighton to a one-sided victory on Saturday in the Monroe Jefferson Invitational.

Brighton scored 27 points, putting its five scoring runners in the top 10. Sica was first in 19:26, followed by sophomore teammate Andrea Crowe in 19:47.

Sam Fusik was sixth in 20:09, Lauren Parrell eighth in 20:17 and Lexi Reynolds 10th in 20:41 to round out the Bulldogs' scoring.

"Today we didn't even really talk about times," Brighton coach Kristi Matuszewski said. "I just said I knew there wasn't going to be a ton of jockeying for position, so you have to run a lot more within yourself and with your teammates. That can sometimes be harder, but it teaches you a lot at the same time."
