Juliet Bottorff, a junior at Tatnall School, placed 12th today at the Nike Team Nationals, a national high school cross country championship race held in Portland, Ore.

Bottorff ran with the Wilmington Cross Country Club, which consisted of the same runners from this year's Tatnall School team and placed 20th. The team also qualified for the meet in 2006, when it was 12th.

Madeline Morgan of Caution XC Club (Ala.) won in 18:54 on a challenging course, including haybales and small hills, in the infield of Portland Meadows.

Bottorff won a Division II state championship in 2006 and again this season. She recorded a 19:31 and missed a top-ten finish by nine-tenths of a second.

The rest of the team finished today as follows: Molly Parsons (81st, 20:57), Kallie Fehr (87th, 21:00), Katie Buenaga (97th, 21:11), Katie Kershner (100th, 21:14), Lauren Blackwell (111th, 21:28) and Katie Oldham (120th, 21:50).

The race consisted of 22 teams and 154 finishers. Manlius XC Club (N.Y.) had four runners in the top 19 and won with 83 points. Manlius also won in 2006.
