Bingham completed competition at the 2nd Annual Tooele Invitational on Saturday, August 18th with great success!
Our varsities and JVs took on other 5A schools at Settlement Canyon, a course that starts with 1 mile uphill on a blacktop road and then veers off into fields and single track trails through forested areas for 5k.  The course is interesting and fast and the weather was perfect with slight overcast and temps in the high 70s.  Full results will be posted when received on the bingham website at , but highlights were as follows . . .
Bingham's Lady Miners garned the 2nd place overall plaque in 5A, finishing second to American Fork HS.  Our lead finisher was McKenzie Moore, 4th overall, with Danika Antczak, Ashlynn Brewer, Sara Copeland, and Rebecca Barnes finishing in our scoring 5.  Brandi Petersen, 6th overall, received the Heart Award, a unique award of this meet.  Three girls, McKenzie, Danika, and Ashlynn all broke 20:00 for the first time!
Our boys won the meet, placing 5 athletes in the top 10.  Our top finisher was Logan Clark, 4th.  Jason Sara, Sean Bullock, Tyler Morris, and Nate Jewkes scored for the Miners.  Interesting to note . . .Nate had a substantial lead over the pack with 600m to go and missed a hairpin turn on the course, running out to a main access road and then back up the canyon, still finishing 5th for the team and 10th overall in the race despite the additional distance.  Jeff Hymas won the boy's JV race . . .with freshman Mason Marshall winning the Heart award from the meet for his gutty 2nd overall placing in the JV division.
Full results for the team will be posted on the website when received from the meet.
Monday morning will be our last Brighton Loops for 2007, a workout conducted by Coach Morris.  Several athletes are coming up to room E-223 for packets and eligibility prior to 7:00am.  If you need this, show up with them.
Full seasonal workouts will be sent to all available email addresses later this week . . .and our first day in school will be next Monday!
