The Clay Center Bengal 7th and 8th grade girls and boys cross country teams competed in the Republic County Middle School Invitational last Thursday at Belleville. No team scores were recorded.

 

Andrea Chestnut led the Lady Bengals with a first place finish in a time of 6:04 over the 1600 meter course. Sydney Callaway placed sixth with a time of 6:57 and Hannah Fowles was 10th in a time of 7:18. Chloe Gaug placed 13th with a time of 7:27 and Ana Hughes was 14th in a time of 8:15 to round out the top five Clay Center runners.

 
Jessica Schwarm placed 15th with a time of 8:21 and Payton Tholstrup was 19th in a time of 9:12 to round out the places and times for the Lady Bengal team.

Donavon Russell led the Bengal boys with a third place finish in a time of 6:15 over the 1600 meter course. Mason Sprague placed 7th with a time of 6:29 and Logan Sullivan was eighth with a time of 6:39. Mason Ahlberg placed 15th with a time of 7:03 and Josh Begnoche was 17th in a time of 7:19 to round out the top five Clay Center runners.

Craig Garrett placed 18th with a time of 7:26, Brenden Kolsky was 19th in a time of 7:28 and Nic Riley placed 23rd with a time of 9:08 to round out the places and times for the Bengal boys team.

The Bengal girls and boys cross country team are competing today (Tuesday) at the Rock Creek Invitational with starting time scheduled for 4 p.m.
