This year was the first for Alton's AAU/USATF track and field program. The results were pretty fruitful.
Alton qualified 11 athletes for the Junior Olympics on July 30 – Aug. 6 in Houston, Texas. The advancing athletes placed in the top four of their qualifying events which include: the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1,500-meter run, 1,500-meter race walk, high jump, shot put, discuss, turbo javelin and triathlon.
Qualifying for Alton were: Gerad Bruce Jr., Jada Bruce, Sinaya Bruce, Jordyn Buckley, Michael Clark, Cyan Kelley, Mariah Lane, Katie Mans, Javion Morgan, Rayna Raglin, Renee Raglin and Jaden Williams Buckley.
