ALAMOSA, hundreds of competitors and spectators alike came out to ASC's rex field yesterday for the Regional Hershey's Track and Field Meet hosted by Alamosa Park's and Recreation.
The all-day event featured sprints and long distance running events in addition to a softball-throw and a standing long jump for field events.
Events were divided by gender and into three age groups, 9-10 year-olds, 11-12 year-olds, and 13-14 year-olds. This attracted participants from elementary schools, middle schools, and junior high schools from throughout the Valley
As is the case every year, the top times from this meet will move on to compete at the State Hershey's Meet in Fort Collins. Last year, competitors Chance Canty and Ryan Martinez made it as far as the National Meet in Hershey, Penn.
At the time of publication, results were not compiled but should be available within the next week on the Alamosa Parks and Recreation website, according to local meet director Brian Benke.
