2005 Foot Locker Cross Country Champion A.J. Acosta set for USA Cross Country Championships presented by Gleukos

The New York Road Runners announced that 2005 Foot Locker national high school cross country champion Andrew 'A.J.' Acosta of Oceanside, California's El Camino High School has entered this weekend's USA Cross Country Championships presented by Gleukos.

The USA Cross Country Championships Presented by Gleukos will be held at New York City's Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx and will be broadcast February 20 (late evening February 19) at 12:00 a.m. EST on ESPN 2.

Acosta will compete in Sunday's junior men's (19 years of age or under) 8-kilometer race, with the top six finishers earning berths on the USA World Cross Country Championships squad that competes in Fukuoka, Japan April 1-2.

Acosta, who recently signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Oregon, won the 2005 Foot Locker Championships in San Diego in a time of 15:02 over a five kilometer course, defeating an elite field of 31 of America's best prep runners.

Other 2005 Fool Locker finalists in the junior men's race include Kenny Klotz (Central Catholic HS, Beaverton) and Isaac Stoutenberg (Crater HS, Central Point) of Oregon,, who finished 4th and 28th; Landon Peacock (Cedar Springs HS, Morley, Mich.), who finished 5th: and Benjamin Sitler (St Francis HS, Los Altos, Calif.), who finished seventh in San Diego.
