I have a first year sprinter whom's preseason and midseason workouts consisted of sprint endurance and speed development. Toward the latter part of the year, we moved her up to the middle distance running group in an attempt to build her stamina. Now that she is working with the sprinters again, she is running very sluggish, robotic, and without any explosiveness. In fact, she is running about a full second slower in the 100, and about 1.5 seconds slower in the 200. With this limited information, what could be the problem, and do you have any suggestions?


There isn't enough info to really understand the problem--so many things go on with kids, it could be anything. I'd possibly suggest some weight training, depending on the age of the individual
