Run for the Oaks 5K
Kira Stewart at firstname.lastname@example.org
The 5K races starts and finish on Person Street next to Moore Square at the City Market. To find the location, go to www.mapquest.cpm and type in 224 East Martin Street, Raleigh, NC. Click here for a course map
The 5K is the first race of the day starting at 8:30 a.m. The kid's run for children ages 10 or younger begins at 9:30 a.m. The course starts and finishes at the City Market. There will be water at the start and finish plus a water stop at the ½-way point. Splits will be called each mile. Registration and packet pickup will be held at the City Market (look for the signs when you get there).
There will be two opportunities for pre-registered entrants to pick up their packets and for late entrants to register prior to race day. Packet pickup will be held on Thursday, March 12th, from 5-7 p.m. at Athlete’s Foot at 2035 Cameron Street in Cameron Village and also at the City Market in downtown Raleigh from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, the 13th. Finally, entrants can register or pick up their packets on race day beginning at 7:00 a.m. in the City Market.
In the individual competition, awards will be presented to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall, and to the first wheel chair finisher of each sex. The first three finishers in each of the following age divisions will also receive awards - (both sexes) 15-under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60-over.
Race timing will be done with the ChampionChip.
This year the race will offer the runners a choice of competitive or recreational entries. Here is the difference:
Recreational Runners/Walkers: Those who choose this classification don't care about being eligible for any awards, are not running on a corporate team, and don’t care about getting an official finishing time. They will be responsible for getting their own finishing time (we will have a digital clock at the finish line or they can time themselves). Their entry fee is $18 after March 5th and $23 for entries postmarked or sent after that date up to and including race day.
Competitive Runners/Walkers: Those who choose this classification want to be eligible for awards, are running on a corporate team and/or just want to get an official time which will appear in the results. Their entry fee is $20 after March 5th and $25 after that date up to and including race day.
Both competitive and recreational entrants will receive a long-sleeved t-shirt as part of their entry fee. The shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by March 6th and will be given out as supplies last after that date.
The race is also part of the Eastern Carolina Corporate Cup. Competition will feature competition for male teams and female teams. Teams will consist of 3-5 members with the first three finishers on each team comprising the team score. All members of the must work for the same employer.
