Now the third annual B.A.A. 5K takes off on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. on Boylston Street at Copley Square Park and finishes on the Boston Marathon finish line at the Boston Public Library in beautiful Back Bay.

Some of the fastest scholastic runners from the eight cities and towns of the historic Marathon course will compete in the B.A.A. Invitational Mile. The event is held at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Sixteen boys and sixteen girls, two from each city and town along the Boston Marathon course, will race around the block and cross the finish line four times in front of thousands of cheering spectators. The eight cities and towns are Hopkinton, Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton, Brookline, and Boston.

Middle School Races Added to Schedule

The urban, 3.1-mile race course passes scenic spots like the Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden, as well as historic landmarks such as the Massachusetts State House and the bar after which the television series "Cheers'" was based: the Bull and Finch Pub.

Age group awards and post-race refreshments and entertainment with the B.A.A. Invitational Mile.

BAA INVITATIONAL MILE

The B.A.A. will host the 3rd Annual Invitational Mile in conjunction with the B.A.A. 5K.

Male and female elite athletes, as well as top local high school milers, will compete in the mile in a series of four races.

Start on Boylston Street, near Exeter Street, finish at the Boston Marathon finish line.

Course:

A three lap course, begin on Boylston Street, left on Dartmouth Street, left on Newbury Street, left on Exeter Street then left onto Boylston ending at the Boston Marathon finish line.
