Dynasty McGee is a twelve year old 7th grader at Mt. Morris Jr. High.  She is also a 5-time AAU "National Medalist".

Recently she competed in the Michigan State High School Indoor Championships.  In that state they allow younger age athletes to compete if they're good.  Well, Dynasty turned up the heat and ran a 58.56 400meter.
Her 3rd place against high school runners was good enough to earn a best ever time for a non-high school athlete in the 400.

Interview

YR:  Dynasty, so what got you started in Track?

DM:  I started running track when I was 4 years old and my parents got me started.  I ran in the Flint Olympian games and I did well. At that time all I wanted was the "Blue Ribbons."  I now own Flint Olympian records in the 200, 400, and the long jump.

YR:  Were you nervous or confident before the race knowing that you were racing against older and more experienced runners?

DM:  I was nervous, my dad showed me the fastest girl in the race.  I said,
"she doesn't look so fast, I can beat her."  I was still nervous, but once the gun popped I just went all out.

YR:  What are your goals between now and high school?

DM:  I want to set the national record in the 400 meters and win both AAU
and USATF National Championships.  I also want to continue getting all
"A's" in school, that's a really important goal that I have set for myself.

YR:  What about college and beyond?

DM:  I want to become a veterinarian and a model.  I know some popular colleges like Harvard, Stanford, LSU, and Michigan.  I would like to attend one of these colleges and help them win a "National Championship" and go on to the Olympics before I leave college.

YR:  What's your worst race?

DM:  My worst race was in the 400 meters at the 2004 National Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa.  I ate a really big breakfast and ran terrible.  I came back later and made "All-American" in the 200 meters. So it wasn't that bad.

YR:  What about your best race?

DM:  My best race was the Michigan High School Indoor State Championships.  I felt great and made All-State as a Middle Schooler.  I beat a state record-holder and four girls who earned college scholarships.

YR:  Any advice to other kids about track?

DM:  Have fun, it's just a sport.  But if you want to be good at it you must go to practice, listen to your coaches, and be focused when you attend track meets.
