Dematha HS (MD) Coach Anthony Bryant

We will have entries in the 60m, 60m Hurdles, 200m, 400m, 4x200m, 4x400m and 4x800m relays. Our goal for the NSIC is to have at least one individual in the finals of each open event this year, especially in the 60m Hurdles, 200m, and 400m. The 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams are focusing on winning their events. We respect every team we run against but how can anyone compete in an event and not try to win. God has really blessed us this year. My boys are excited about running; they have run some very good times in their individual events and relays. The 4x400m has exceeded our expectations

Lauren Chambers (GA) Weight Throw

My goal for the 2006 NSIC is to be All-American in the weight throw and the shot put as a freshman. I?ve done a lot on new things this year. I am lifting weights for the first time and have been practicing hard since September. I even used my babysitting money to purchase my own practice weight to use at home. I would say my indoor season is going pretty good. My first meet I broke the Freshman National Class Record in the weight throw.

Running Gear (Clarkston HS) (MI)

Seniors Jenny Morgan, Lisa Sickman, Kaitlyn Meernik, and Jenna Leach

We are going to run the DMR and two teams in the 4xMile relay. We also have some athletes running some individual events. We are hoping to run under 11:50 in the DMR and defend our 4xMile crown. We also plan to have a second 4xMile team place in the top six. We just started racing and we are healthy and fit. We will use some local indoor meets in Michigan to get ready for NSIC. We love New York!!!!

Jack Sachse (KS) 800m

My main goal in the 800m is to gain more experience racing indoors and against top-level competition. I will also use this meet as a springboard in having a good outdoor season. I will do my best to be in contention to win the race. This winter I have been trying to stay injury free. I ran on soft surfaces (the grass) for the first several weeks of training this winter. I have also done minimal speed work. I?m running a little over 50 miles a week now (with one day off for recovery). The only thing I will do different to focus on this meet is ease up on the mileage a little bit and throw in a little speed work. I will be in good racing shape for this meet.

Simon Gratz (PA) Coach Robert Massie

Simon Gratz boys? team plans to compete in the 4x800m, 4x400, 4x200, and the sprint medley relay. We are currently the #1 team in the country in the 4x200m relay. We plan to run Kenneth Talley in the 200m. Our goals are to improve our times in all these events. We also want to defend our Indoor State Championship Title. We also want to compete against the best at the NSIC.

Lejerald Betters (TX) 400m

I am going to compete in 400m at the NSIC. I?m currently top ranked in the 400m.  I haven?t done anything special this year, I?ve just been practicing. My goal for the 2006 outdoor season is to run 45 in the open 400 and hopefully take my team to a state title in the 4x400m relay.

Gaby Mayo (NC) 60m, 60H, 200m

I am competing in the 60m, 60H, and 200m. I want to run 7.10 in the 60m, 8.2 in the 60H, and 23.3 in the 200. I just started lifting weights for the first time so I?m getting stronger. Indoor season is going pretty well. My team won the state meet and I broke 5 state records at the meet. I have the number 1 time in the 55H and the number 3 time in the 60H, But it was a prelim time because I fell in the finals. I don?t have anymore meets before the NSIC.

Coach Tom Eastler, (ME)

The Maine contingent will be entering the girls and boys race walks. Top six is always great, but the competition itself is very worthwhile and allows our athletes to get ranked nationally. The Maine athletes have raced at MIT, Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, University of Southern Maine, University of Maine at Farmington, and Bates College to prepare for the NSIC. High School senior Lauren Forgues from Boothbay, Maine has won a number of meets so far this year, and her brother Matthew, an 8th grader, has also won a number of meets.

Symone O?Connor (NJ) 200m & 400m

I plan to run the 400m dash at the 2006 NSIC and improve on my personal best 400m dash time of 55.34. I will also run the 200m dash. In an effort to improve my times and prepare for outdoor season, I decided to train with my club team this season where I continue to work hard and receive personalized training that are focused on my goals. The 2006 indoor season is going well. I participated in the Colgate Womens Games and won the High School division 400m. I ran an indoor personal best of 55.34 in the Elite Women?s 400m at the New Balance Games.

Greg Davis (GA) Shot Put & Weight Throw

I am competing in the weight throw and the shot put at the 2006 NSIC. My goal is to set a personal record and become an All-American in both events. I have spent far more time this year getting ready for this indoor season then any other year. I have changed around my lifting program to put myself into a better position to perform well. I also learned the rotational technique in the shot put.

Nate Anderson (OR) 400m

I plan to run the 400m at the NSIC. That will be my second 400m of the season. This is the first year that I have taken my indoor season very seriously. I have never trained so early in the year before, and some of my training is new, so I am eager to see how it will benefit me this year. I?m focusing on the NSIC because I know I am going to perform 100%.

New Rochelle HS (NY) Andy Capellan

The New Rochelle girls will be focusing on the Friday portion of the meet. We are planning to defend our National Championship Title in the Shuttle Hurdles with the same athletes who ran and won last year. They are Carin Knight, who will high jump, Lacresha Simpson, Assata Cowart and Lynne Layne, who will long jump. The shuttle hurdle team has run together at 3 meets and won them all. They also set the New York State Shuttle Relay Record twice this past season with 33.55.

Mitchell Gormley (GA) Weight Throw

I am training to be an All-American and my seasonal goal is to throw 65 feet in the weight throw. I have given up other sports to concentrate on throwing the 25lbs weight. I train six days a week and have missed several family vacations so I don?t miss our club practice. My season has been great so far. I have already thrown farther than last year, so I know my extra training has paid off.

Emily Bernhardt (GA) Weight Throw

I am going to compete in the weight throw at the NSIC. I?m looking to win a national championship this year along with a few records. I?ve really started centering my focus on all aspects of my training this season; so far it?s paying off.

JT Scheuerman (CO) 60m, 200, & 400m

I haven?t done anything different in the last two years. I have just had better teammates to push me this year. I am scheduled to run at Simplot and a collegiate last chance meet in Colorado. I think I will do well in both. They are set up to get me ready to run at the NSIC.

David Schiedt (GA) Weight Throw

I am competing in the weight throw. My goal is to win and set a new weight personal record. I have trained and worked very hard by practically working everyday whether it is nice or bad outside. I have set aside other high school things to be a complete athlete and not sacrifice my training for something trivial.

Track Knoxville (TN) Coach Charles Ryan

Jacquelyn Coward (TN) 60m, 60H & 200m

Jacquelyn will compete in her main event, the 60m Hurdles. She will also compete in the 200m and the 60m. Obviously she would like to win every time she steps on the track but we set more detailed goals for each race. She wants to come away with the win, but what she really wants is the US Sophomore National Record. She missed the Freshman Record last year so she wants this real bad. This is the first year Jackie has done fall training, we expresses to her how important it was to do it and even though she didn?t understand it at first, she truly gets it now and is reaping the benefits. She is in better shape now then she was at the end of the season last year.

Nathan Grace (TN) 200m & 400m

Nathan is venturing to the NSIC to compete in both the 200m and 400m. Nathan is an unknown senior with a US top 5 ranking, so his main goal is to put a face to his name, and get into college. Like his teammates, this is the first year Nathan has done fall training. The huge improvements to his form and racing mentality have allowed for big improvements in his times and hopefully some national attention. This is the first season Nathan has found himself nationally ranked and is looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the nations best and establish himself as one of the top US high school sprinters. We couldn?t think of a better place than New York City, and the NSIC.

Cody Cox (GA) Weight Throw

My goal in the shot put is 53? and my goal in the weight throw is 70?. I have worked very hard this indoor season. I do 200 weight turns a day. I also lift hard and practice almost everyday. I have learned how to relax and compete well this season and that is one of my keys to success. I have learned that it is more important to have good technique than to try really hard and be out of control.
