The girls of Bishop Kelly, noted as one of the teams to watch
in our preview, opened with a victory in their Jimmy Driscoll
Invitational in Boise defeating rival Mountain View of Idaho 40 to 61.
Liz Brandon of Eagle claimed the individual honors winning in a time of
19:23.43. Emily Nist of Bishop Kelly placed 2nd with a 19:43.57, while
Michelle Hickerson of Centennial (Id) finished third with 19:48.27.
Bishop Kelly runners Codi Gifford & Jordan Englehardt placed 4th & 6th
respectively while Lisa Drury of Eagle was fifth.
Central Catholic of Portland, Oregon launched a succeful invasion
on the boys' side of things with a narrow 47 to 49 victory over Mountain
View and Eagle was not far behind in third with 75 points. Ryan Jaggi of
Wesier took the individual title by ten seconds winning with a time of
16:59. Nick Hampton of Eagle edged CC's Samot Turina & Curran Carlile.
Kevin Miller, Garrison Holdaway & Cory Ytsma of Mountain View made things
interesting by takin the 5th though 7th positions but Peter Slauson earned
ninth for CC & the rest of Central's runners provided enough support to
overcome the Mountain View power up front.
