Carlisle's Derek Hart placed second in the 13- and 14-year-old boys' softball throw Saturday at the Hershey track and field games North American final.
Hart's throw of 212 feet, 10 inches trailed only Devonte Mathis, who threw 225-6. Mathis is from Miami.
"I'll take second," Hart said. "It was No. 2 in North America, so that's good enough for me, really."

Other local competitors included Milton Hershey's Jolene Disbrow, who finished 10th in the 13- and 14-year-old girls' softball throw with a toss of 143-7.5, and Harrisburg's Romelle Potts, who clocked a time of 1 minute, 7.66 seconds to finish seventh in the 11- and 12-year-old girls' division of the 400-meter dash. -- Josh Langenbacher
