KELSEY GLIDDEN Third at Hershey Nationals in long jump.

HERSHEY, Pa. — Rochester's Kelsey Glidden set her sights on seven feet in the standing long jump at Saturday's North American Hershey Track and Field Finals.

She didn't reach seven feet, but her jump of 6 feet, 9 3/4 inches, a personal best, was good for third. Kristina Felix of Burlington, Ky., won the event for girls ages 9-10 with a leap of 7-6. Lauren Taubert of Casper, Wyo., was second at 7-41/4.

Glidden edged Jazmine Braggs of Mobile, Ala., for third place by a quarter inch. Her previous longest jump was 6-9, which she did at the state meet.

Glidden tied for the highest finisher for New Hampshire with Sunapee's Nicholas Skarin, who was third in the boys 11-12 800-meter run (2:26.32). Hampton's Devinne Cullinane was ninth in the girls 11-12 800-meter run; William Baker of Kensington was seventh in the boys 9-10 100, and Erika Dennery of Shales Location was seventh in the girls 9-10 400.

One New Englander won a national title. That was Mollie Gribbin of Montpelier, Vt., who won the girls 13-14 long jump with a leap of 8 feet, 4 inches.
