OMAHA, Neb. — Ten-year-old League City resident Morgan Davis earned a quartet of medals at the United States Track and Field Junior Olympics last week.

Davis, a fifth-grader at Gilmore Elementary School, won the 100-meter dash national title in the bantam girl (9-10) division. Her time of 13.49 seconds was a national record. She competed with the Texas Storm Track Club.

Davis finished second in the triathlon (shot put, high jump, 200 meters). Her 200 dash time of 27.2 seconds is a Junior Olympics record. She finished third in the open 200 dash and was on the fourth-place 400-meter relay team.

Davis is the younger sister of Clear Creek High School football player Marcus Davis. Marcus Davis has given an oral commitment to play for the University of Texas football team next fall. Their older sister, Candice Davis, a 2005 Clear Creek graduate, went on to play volleyball at SMU.

Three members of the Island Tides Track Club based in Galveston competed in the AAU national track and field championships in Ypsilanti, Mich., last week. They were Priest Bluitt, Christopher Welch and Christian Welch.
