Northgate High track standout Graylin Ward wrapped up a summer of personal bests last weekend by finishing seventh in the high jump at the USA Track & Field National Junior Olympics in Omaha, Neb.
Ward, who most recently set a season best of 6 feet, 1 1/2 inches in the high jump at the AAU 3B Region meet in mid June at Our Lady of Mercy High School, eclipsed that mark at the USA National meet while competing in the Intermediate Boys division.
Ward, who competes for the Southside Pioneers Track and Field Club, set a personal record of 6-2 3/4 to finish seventh overall at the national event. In June, Ward placed third at the USATF Georgia Championships and second at the 2008 Georgia AAU State Meet, both with attempts of 5-11 3/4.
