A local girl leaps her way into the National Hershey's Track and Field Games. 9-year-old Victoria Vickers is a 4th grader from Western Village Academy, and is the state champion in her age group for the long jump. Victoria is one of 5 Oklahoma kids to qualify for the national event. The record jump, which sent her to the school-aged Olympics is 6 ft., 6 inches.
Victoria Vickers, the 9year-old state champion long jumper said, "Because I like to run and I like to jump since I started jumping when I was a kid. Then I hurt myself and I'm surprised I got this far from jumping from mat to mat, and now I'm jumping all the way to Pennsylvania."
Victoria and her mother will head to Hershey, Pennsylvania at the end of July. She looks forward to visiting the Hershey Factory most.
