Fourteen-year-old Megan Paul was the star of the meet for the Waukegan-based Invaders youth track team which competed recently at the AAU Region 6B Track & Field Championships at Illinois State University in Normal.
Paul won the 100-meter dash (12.68 seconds), the 200 (25.42) and the 400 (57.71) to qualify for AAU nationals in all three events.

Several members of the Waukegan Invaders youth track team qualified for the AAU national meet by running/throwing well in a qualifying meet in downstate Normal.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the national meet in Detroit.
All told, 10 members of the Invaders qualified for nationals.
That includes Caroline Carmichael , who finished first in the age 14 pentathlon (100 hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump & 800 run).
QUALIFIERS FOR AAU NATIONALS
Boys
• Age 8 -- Charles Taylor (2nd in 400 & 1st in 800); Nathaniel Wells (2nd, 800).
• Age 9 -- Melvin Pettis (2nd in long jump); Thomas Mosley (2nd in 400 & 1st in 800).
• Age 10 -- Trey Nickerson (3rd in 400).
• Age 12 -- Derrick Nickerson (3rd in 400).
• Age 14 -- Anthony Paul (2nd in 100).
Girls
• Age 14 -- Megan Paul (1st in 100, 200 and 400); Kerrie Spaven (2nd, discus & 3rd, shot put); Caroline Carmichael (1st, pentathlon & 3rd, heptathlon). YOUTH TRACK
