Pehmoeller ninth at Nike

GREENSBORO, N.C. -Arlington High School senior Alyssa Pehmoeller finished ninth in the hammer throw at the Nike Outdoor Nationals on Saturday at North Carolina A&T University.

Pehmoeller's second throw went a distance of 40.44 meters (132 feet, 8 inches). Marietta Ga.'s Allison Horner won the event with a throw of 54 meters (177-2).

The Admirals' boys' 6,400-meter relay team took 10th overall. Senior Dan Kane and juniors Adam Doherty, Jared Leslie, and John Muller finished in a time of 18 minutes, 3.27 seconds. The Woodlands Track Club won the championship in 17:26.58.

Also, the Arlington girls' 6,400 relay team finished 16th. The quartet of sophomores Brianna Service, Victoria Sanford, Rachel Sorna and freshman Hayley McMahon ran the event in 22:03.3. Burnt Hills won in 20:09.87.
